Stennis International Airport Tower's shutdown is delayed

The director of Stennis International Airport remains hopeful that the FAA will spare small air traffic control towers from budget cuts.

Bill Cotter says he is pleased that the FAA has delayed its plan to shut down 149 air traffic control towers including the one at Stennis Airport in Hancock County.

Those towers were supposed to close yesterday, but last Friday, the FAA decided to keep them open until June 15.

Road work scheduled for I-10 July 18-19

The Mississippi Department of Transportation will be conducting road work on I-10 between Menge Avenue and Diamondhead exits. The westbound lanes will be affected.

The work will begin on Wednesday, July 18 at 7 p.m. and end around 6 a.m. on Thursday, July 19.

Traffic is expected to be moderately impacted.

If you're traveling on I-10 from the DeLisle to Diamondhead exits you can expect moderate traffic this evening and tomorrow. The lanes affected are the westbound outside lanes and outside shoulder.

The work will begin this evening at 7 p.m. until Wednesday, June 27 at 6 a.m.

Road work on I-10 from Diamondhead to Menge exits

Workers will be resurfacing or paving I-10 from Diamondhead to Menge exits starting Monday, June 4 starting at 7 p.m. to Tuesday, June 5 at 6 a.m.

According to the Mississippi Department of Transportation the westbound inside lanes will be effected.

Moderate traffic is expected.

Christian Motorcyclists Association to hold fellowship ride

Christian Motorcyclists invites you to a fellowship ride Saturday, Feb. 4.

Riders will meet at the Shell gas station on Canal Road. Kick stands will go up at 8:30 a.m.

The route goes through Hwy 53 to Poplarville. Riders will stop at Round Table Restaurant in Columbia, MS. ETA is at 11:30 a.m.

Anyone leaving from Diamondhead can meet at Burger King in Diamondhead at 7:45 a.m.
