As shoppers rush to make it to the best sales this Black Friday, authorities have a few tips to make your shopping experience a happy one.

Summer may be winding down, but Old Town Bay St. Louis will sizzle with action during the Second Saturday Artwalk, August 11th.  From 4 – 8pm, galleries, cafes and boutiques will be hosting open houses, restaurants will be serving up coastal cuisine, and several live music performances will keep toes tapping through the evening.

Coast fashionistas will be thrilled to learn about new shopping options in Old Town.  The iconic French Quarter resort-wear store California Drawstrings, is opening a satellite location in Bay St.

According to the Department of Revenue for the State of Mississippi,the annual Sales Tax Holiday begins12:01 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2012, and ends 12:00 midnight Saturday, July 28, 2012. Please review the  listing of eligible and non-eligible clothing and footwear items for more information.

The items exempt from sales tax during the Sales Tax Holiday are identical to those items exempt in prior years.

In March, the Mississippi Gulf Coast “Bursts into Bloom,” with both the natural world and community life blossoming with new vibrancy. On March 10th, The Second Saturday Artwalk, held each month in Old Town Bay St. Louis, will coincide with several other exciting events, making the day one of the liveliest of the year.

The day starts off with a literal “bang” at 9am, when the fourth annual 5k Health Run/Walk begins. Entrants line up at the corner of Main St. and Second St. from
6-8:30am (call 228.206.1129).

Rouses opens new Diamondhead store Wednesday at 7am

With a Café featuring chef-inspired meals and indoor and outdoor seating, a fresh sushi station, a full salad bar, a walk-in beer cooler, and a room devoted just to boiling Gulf Coast seafood, customers expecting the usual grocery shopping experience are in for a big treat when the new Rouses Market in Diamondhead opens on Wednesday, December 14th.

This newly constructed 30,000 square foot store at 4407 East Aloha Drive replaces the 19,000 square foot space that Rouses Markets acquired in August of 2008. The new store is adjacent to the old one.

Garage sale benefit starts today

A garage sale benefiting Virginia Barnett, whom lost everything after her home burned will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011. The garage sale will be held in the parking lot of Virginia College in Biloxi off of Popps Ferry Road. The garage sale will start at 7 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The garage sale will feature: furniture, toys, appliances, clothes and much more.
