Nearly 2,000 students graduated from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College during the 2012-2013 school year.  The annual commencement ceremony was held on May 9 at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum in Biloxi.

St. Stanislaus holds Winter sports convocation

St. Stanislaus:

Stanislaus highlighted its’ winter sports during their annual Winter Sports Awards Convocation on March 13, 2013 in the St. Stanislaus College Café. Athletes in Cheerleading, Soccer, and Basketball were recognized for participation, earning a participation certificate, a varsity letter, and/or were recognized for achieving academic excellence.

Individual awards were presented to players in each sport based on their individual accomplishments.

Hancock High School SADD/SAVE (Students against Destructive Decisions/Students Against Violence Everywhere) sponsored a student activity prior to prom. As Juniors and Seniors picked up their prom tickets, a speaker stressed to the students the importance of making wise decisions and they also signed a PROM Promise pledge to make sound and wise decisions. The Hancock High School SADD/SAVE chapter is the recipient of a Southern Allstate Foundation Teen Safe Driving Grant and they have partnered with agent Brenan Compretta to plan additional activities.

Hope Shubert, Daiquiri Burton, Lindsey Nichols and Kaitlynn Pavolini, members of the Hancock County Career Technical Center DECA Chapter and their advisor, Lady Anne Bruce, attended the International DECA Career Development Conference in Anaheim, California April 23-28, 2013.

Hancock High student awarded $1,000 scholarship to college of choice

Cade Jarrell of Hancock High School has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship to the college of his choice. The ESF Get2College Scholarship Squad is traveling the state to surprise the 50 winners  with $1,000 "You Are College Material Scholarships.". Some 1200 students entered this year’s Get2College essay competition which required the students to pretend they were writing their autobiography and submit Page 217 as their essay.

St. Stanislaus wins division 8-4A golf tournament

St. Stanislaus wins division 8-4A golf tournament

The St. Stanislaus Golf Team captured the Division 8-4A Championship on Tuesday, April 16, at Diamondhead Country Club and has qualified for the MS 4A State Team Championship which will be held on May 1st and 2nd. The Rock-A-Chaws won the division tournament with a combined team score of 333. St. Stanislaus eighth grader Patrick Powers shot a 77 and was recognized as the Low Medalist. Powers was also named to the All-Division Team along with Hayden Solomon (78) and Noah Parnell (83), both from Vancleave. Powers and Solomon have qualified for the 4A MS State Individual Championship.
