Abigail Arcement has been named Valedictorian of the Hancock High School Senior Class of 2012. Abigail is the daughter of Leslie Ladner and Brian Arcement. Abbey has two younger siblings, Eli and Clara Arcement.  Abbey is a National Merit Finalist. Abbey was the captain of the Hancock volleyball team and has played volleyball for all four years at HHS.

St.Stanislaus debate team wins state championship in policy debate

ST. STANISLAUS:

The St. Stanislaus Debate Team won a State Championship in Policy Debate at the Mississippi High School Activities Association State Debate Tournament. The Policy Debate Team of Lex Adams and Chris Perkins had a perfect 4-0 record. Lex Adams also won the fourth place trophy in Extemporaneous Speaking and ranked eighth overall among all competitors in total individual competition.

The HMS Gifted Chess tournament was a great success!  The students were very focused and gave 100% effort!  Judges were Jason Taylor and Joe Lopez. Winners were: 1st Place- Adam Lalejini; 2nd Place -Nathan Jones; 3rd Place- Jordan Desplas.

An official with St. Stanislaus said workers are fixing a part that went out Wednesday morning in the school’s electrical room causing the school to close for the day.   School will be back in session Thursday morning, operating on regular school hours.

Prinicpal of Hancock High named administrator of the year

Hancock County School District:

Principal of Hancock High School, Rhett Ladner, has been named Congressional District 4 Administrator of the Year. Mr. Ladner returned to Hancock High School campus from interviewing for Mississippi state administrator of the year in Jackson to find that HHS faculty and students celebrated his accomplishment with a sign in front of the main office.

Hancock High was victorious in two District events held at Bayou Bluff in Gulfport on Wednesday, April 18, claiming the boys and girls singles titles.

Hancock High claims both boys and girls Tennis Singles titles for 6A District 8, Division 8 in two hard fought matches that went down to the wire.
