Farm families of MS celebrate national beef month

Farm families of MS celebrate national beef month

February is National Beef Month.  Did you know that 97% of America’s cattle farms and ranches are family run?  That’s right!  We have Mississippi Farm Families providing safe beef not only for your family but ours as well.

Improvements in beef production technology have helped the beef industry use fewer resources to feed more people.  In Mississippi in 2011 the value of the beef industry was $155 million.

With over 14,500 cattle farms in Mississippi there is a lot of delicious and nutritious beef for you to try in your family meals.

Send us your Thanksgiving experience

Send us your Thanksgiving experience

Every Thanksgiving my family and I gather together for the usual Thanksgiving feast. Only our feast includes two or three ethnic dishes made by my mother. Her Filipino dishes usually include pansette, lumpia and purple yam cake. Before eating dinner each of the five members of my family gather together and share something each person is thankful for.

If you have an interesting family tradition, share it. Email us a picture of you and your family or friends.

The holiday spirit will get into full swing on Saturday, November 19 during the Diamondhead Holiday Open House, when the Diamondhead Shopping Center will be transformed into “Santa Central.”  Beginning at 11am, the red-suited elf will arrive on a fire truck, then will stay on hand throughout the day, greeting children and posing for pictures with his pint-sized fans.
