For its second year, Gulfport High School will house the indoor guard and percussion show--Rhythm and Waves on Saturday. Thirty-one artistic and musically talented performers from Louisiana to Florida create a colorful show. This event guarantees a variety of styles and productions including percussion and guard ensembles.

SBA triples surety bond guarantee ceiling; helping small businesses secure large contracts

A major revision in the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Surety Bond Guarantee (SBG) Program more than triples the eligible contract amount, from $2 million to $6.5 million, the Agency will guarantee on surety bonds for both public and private contracts. The higher surety bond guarantee limits are expected to help construction and service sector small businesses gain greater access to private and public contracts and secure larger contracts vital to small business growth.

US Postal Service to implement new mail delivery

The US Postal service announced Tuesday it will begin to move towards a new schedule of mail delivery. During the week of August 5, 2013 the new schedule for deliveries will take place. Package delivery will be Monday - Saturday and mail delivery will be Monday-Friday.

According to the US Postal Service web page, the move is expected to draw cost savings of approximately $2 billion annually.

Applications Now Being Accepted for Gulf Coast Business Council Research Foundation 2013 Masters Pro

The Gulf Coast Business Council Research Foundation is now accepting applications for its 2013 Masters Program. The program was developed in 2007 to identify and develop emerging leaders of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Typically the class size is limited to 25, and this group becomes an effective regional "think tank" for one year.

Extends Nominations Deadline for All Awards to Jan. 31, 2013

Small Business Administration:

A new award has been added by the U.S. Small Business Administration in celebration of National Small Business Week 2013. 

The Small Business Exporter of the Year award will recognize a small business that is successfully engaged in exporting.  A national award winner will be selected from among state award winners from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam.
