Infinity Science Center and USM join forces to foster STEM education excellence

Hancock County, MS….Board members of INFINITY Science Center and representatives of the University of Southern Mississippi will be signing a memorandum of understanding on Friday, February 15th, at 1 pm beginning a unique educational partnership.

The two institutions are joining forces to ramp up educational opportunities at INFINITY, the new $30 million state-of-the-art Science Center that opened in Hancock County just last year.  INFINITY is one of only nine NASA Visitors Centers in the country.

MDMR Seeks Entries for 2013 Marine Calendar Art Contest

Mississippi Department of Marine Resources:

In an effort to generate an interest in our coastal resources and to promote the awareness of their value, the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (MDMR) is holding its 12th annual student art contest for third- through sixth-graders in Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties. The contest kicked off Sept. 3 and the Oct. 15 entry deadline is quickly approaching. The MDMR would like to encourage all third- through sixth-grade students to participate.

August second Saturday sizzles this weekend

Hancock County Chamber of Commerce:

Summer may be winding down, but Old Town Bay St. Louis will sizzle with action during the Second Saturday Artwalk, August 11th.  From 4 – 8pm, galleries, cafes and boutiques will be hosting open houses, restaurants will be serving up coastal cuisine, and several live music performances will keep toes tapping through the evening.

Coast fashionistas will be thrilled to learn about new shopping options in Old Town.  The iconic French Quarter resort-wear store California Drawstrings, is opening a satellite location in Bay St.

Community Center holding kids art contest

Children are invited to attend the Diamondhead Community Center's Kid Art Contest. Children must register by Feb. 21.

Artwork will be voted upon at the Diamondhead Community Center on March 28. The contest is open to grades K-12th.
